Vacation Day 1

We stopped in Jackson to rest on our way to Pass Christian, MS. In the morning, we broke up the trip with a quick stop at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science and enjoyed their Fun Friday. The museum might be small, but it was great. Packed with replica skeletons of sea creatures, dinosaurs and current species they also has some interactive exhibits, like:

Here we are discovering with kind of teeth are better for catching krill, jaws or comb-like teeth?

They had some huge aquariums! I couldn't get a good pic of the scuba diver that was in this tank because of the crowd, but she is waving to the kids while she works.

The museum was filled with displays showing the wildlife that can be found in Mississippi, including birds, snakes, bears, rodents, insects and flowers. I think our favorite, hands down, was the two headed rattlesnake that could eat and breath out of both heads, but it is believed that the right head controls the body. His cage makes it almost impossible to get a picture of him though.

I did get a good image of our second favorite, the turtles.

And what really rocked our world, was the hands on sea life exhibit. We got to pet a horseshoe crab!!!
